Kiley: Walker Third on Depth Chart at 2B
The Sun-Times' Mike Kiley says that Todd Walker is "third on the depth chart at second base behind Neifi Perez and Jerry Hairston." Egads. Thankfully, no source is cited, and it's more than likely Kiley's internal depth chart.

egads, indeed
If that is true, though, this team is going to be very hard to root for this season.
Insane, simply insane...
Okay, so the Cubs didn't get Soriano (thank goodness). Maybe Vidro is an outside chance at best. If, by some amazing act from up above, they landed Tejada (they'd probably have to part with Cedeno), then Walker's gotta be the guy to get the start. While he's not next in line to win a gold glove at second, Walker's ability to play second base certainly puts him above that of Hairston and Perez - both of whom I'm happy to see as part of this season's "Lemons" or whatever nickname they'll come up with. Walker's a solid contact guy from the left side - something last time I checked we kinda need. He also hit lefties pretty well last season. He's great trade bait... but what would the Cubs be able to conjure up to equal Walker?
