# of MLB College Graduates in 2005 ???

According to a quote from Mark Prior's USC graduation speech last year:

"Having a degree from USC is a major accomplishment for me, as well as it should be for you. (USC Associate) Dean Ellis alluded to the fact that I'm only one of 17 current major leaguers with a college degree."

A newspaper looked into the issue, and found 42 actual college graduates in major league baseball.

Somehow as a fan of Douglas Adams books, I find it interesting that the MLB grad number turned out to be 42.

Is anyone else here curious what the number of MLB college graduates number is for 2005 ?

Doug Glanville and Eric Karros have retired since that list was compiled. How many others on this list have retired from the MLB?

Clubhouse tv series and MLB graduate issue

I missed the Clubhouse tv series when it initially airs (we didn't have CBS here).
My family has since found it on HDnet on Thursday nights...right after Smallville and just before Jake 2.0.

Clubhouse is the story of a New York "Empires" teen batboy and his family. It is based on the book Batboy by former NY Yankee batboy Matthew McGough.

(I wonder what stories former Cubs batboys or Yosh Kawano have to share???)

The episode that aired last week had the MLB veteran player Conrad Dean (played by Dean Cain studying for his college degree while traveling with his team and using a day off to finish make-up tests for his degree.

Which came first, this episode of the Clubhouse series or the above listed articles regarding the lack of MLB college graduates???

Does anyone here have a Cubs 2005 Media guide? (They sell them at the program stand at Wrigley.) I'm curious if there are more than 3 college grads on the Cubs.

The article adds:

The Cubs always can team up Gerut with USC's Mark Prior and Dartmouth's Mike Remlinger in the event Major League Baseball conducts a quiz show.
