Tyler Colvin to Replace Milton Bradley
In a follow up post on the Milton Bradley suspension, Bruce Miles states that the Cubs plan to call up outfielder Tyler Colvin for the Milwaukee series beginning Monday, which also means adding him to the 40-man roster.
Colvin was a surprise 1st round draft pick (13th overall) by the Cubs in 2006. A year later, Jim Hendry called him “untouchable” at the 2007 winter meetings.
Colvin just turned 24 this month and has spent the past three seasons mostly playing for AA Tennessee. His minor league career shows improvement, but he has a career OBP of .320 and set a career “high” this year at .334. He did slug .524 at Tennessee this year, so he continues to show good potential, but the Cubs are not likely to trust right field in Wrigley to him next year.
