WGN has updated/redesigned their Cubs schedule page.

As I type this, all they have listed for game telecasts is:

Friday, September 26 @ Brewers 7:05 PM CSN+

Saturday, September 27 @ Brewers 2:55 PM Fox

And the Friday listing was invisible. It only showed up when I copied the text from the webpage.

According to cubs.com, the Thursday game is on Comcast PLUS.

FWIW, the Comcast listings say its on regular Comcast sports.

My Tivo listings don't even list the live game listings since their Comcast PLUS channel is on a "ghost channel" that doesn't even have its program listings show up on the cable box listings.

The Tivo listings just list the rerun of the game.

I'm having the toughest time programming my Tivo for the Cubs games this week.

Here's what my Tivo has listed for Friday night...

Yep, there isn't even an ESPN listing for a 7pm baseball game.

Comcast's tv listings website offers two listings for this game... I'm guessing that one will be blacked out...but which one?

When the games are listed with two channels carrying the game, I'd really like information to help me determine which one will air in my broadcast market and which one will be blacked out, so I can program my Tivo/cable pvr/vcr properly.

If both will air (no blackouts!) I'd like to know that too so I can pick the one will preferable announcers or camera work, special features or whatever...

Bottom of the 9th, score tied vs Mets and the cable company switches to another program.

No kidding! Since this game was on Comcast Plus and our cable company doesn't have a channel allocation for Comcast Plus, it just pre-empts the programming on another HD channel...which is fine but they've really got to wait at least UNTIL THE GAME IS OVER before switching back to their regularly scheduled programs.

When it switched I thought "Oh, the White Sox game must be over", so I tried Comcast Sports and the Sox were still playing. So I tuned into the "Leased programming" channel and found the Cubs/Mets game and watched the sad end of the game there. Actually, if the Cubs are going to lose a game, this is the way to do it. In first place, division clinched and not having to return to New York to finish the game (or whatever) in the case of a tie.

I do appreciate the Plus games being on the "Leased programming" channel, but for some reason the picture quality is really poor on that channel. It looks like the Cubs highlights after the local tv sportscaster has recorded it in SLP mode and copied it. Also the programming the "Leased programming" channel carries is not listed in the cable box program guide, so one just needs to know the game is there.

If you want to record from that channel, one needs to set the recording manually. In the past, doing just that would block off use of that tuner from the moment you set up the recording (perhaps days in advance?) until the recording had ended. It does this because there are no program listings associated with the channel.

I guess that makes it the "least program listings channel".

Local paper lists tonights game as airing on Comcast Sports (not plus).

Cubs.com lists it as being on Comcast Sports PLUS and ESPN.

Usually one of the channels broadcasting the game will be blacked out.

I just set the Tivo to record both Comcast Plus and ESPN.

We'll see what I get.

Update: I set up the Comcast PVR to record the Comcast Sportsnet programs that were scheduled from 12noon - 12:30pm and then the 12:30-1:30pm program.

The program listed for 12 noon - 12:30pm was changed to "to be announced" and the end result was that it didn't get recorded. I'm hoping they'll re-air it. I'm sure they'll replay some of it on Chicago Tribune Live...

Does this stuff happen to anyone else or just me?

I'm still looking for a PVR/Tivo listing for the Sox/Twins game tonight.
