I missed seeing this game since it didn't air live on a channel that I can receive. I'm glad to see they're re-airing the game. It also aired at 2am this morning. The cable guide said a White Sox game was scheduled to be re-aired, but the Cubs game was there instead. Hopefully we won't find a White Sox game airing at 2:30pm today. ;)

Trying to watch the Cubs in High Def...

Watching last week's Cubs/Cardinals game on ESPN HD proved to be impossible once again. Usually if the game is aired on Comcast then the ESPN game will be blacked out (with my cable company anyway). If it airs on WGN and is also scheduled on ESPN, then I should be able to watch it in HD on ESPN. (WGN and Comcast in HD is not available via my local cable dudes). Anyway, I guess WGN blocked ESPN from airing the game via my local cable company so I ended up with no ESPN game recorded on the DVR.

I had just re-ordered ESPN in HD too in order to get this game in. Arrrgh! At least I didn't plan a party around getting to watch the Cubs beat the Cards in HD. I'll probably end up cancelling the ESPN HD since the main team I'm interested in keeps getting blacked out on their network.

Schedule change:

Please note the Cubs' Aug. 27 game against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium will be a 7:05 p.m. CT start, and broadcast on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball.

Yippee! I might actually get to see a Cubs game in high def! With any luck this one won't get blacked out like they usually do when in HD.

That's too bad, from my perspective. With just basic cable, I don't get ESPN, but I do get WGN, where the game was originally scheduled to be broadcast.

Aug 21 CLTV/Comcast Plus - Cubs vs. Phillies

August 21, 2006 by diana, 2 years 45 weeks ago
Comment id: 1528

Both the cable pvr and the Tivo fail to list tonight's Cubs vs. Phillies game that airs on Comcast Sports Chicago PLUS outside of the Chicago area.

The local paper's tv listings didn't mention it either.

The sports page said it was on Comcast, but didn't mention the PLUS element or where to find the Comcast plus channel.

The Tribune did share this info, which I found here:

Phillies at Cubs
Season series: First meeting.
Phillies won 2005 series 4-2.
Mon.: 7:05, CSN+, CLTV
RH Jon Lieber (5-9, 5.10) vs.
LH Rich Hill (3-5, 6.90)

I thought that tonight's game might be on Comcast Sports Chicago PLUS since it is airing on CLTV but not WGN, ESPN, Fox or the regular Comcast Chicago channel, but sadly, no. It isn't scheduled.

Is tonight's game on WGN or Comcast ???

September 8, 2006 by diana, 2 years 42 weeks ago
Comment id: 1571

Our local paper had the White Sox game listed for this evening on both WGN and Comcast Sports Chicago. These two never share a game telecast.
Sometimes they'll share one with ESPN, but never do we see Comcast and WGN air the same game at the same time.
(Okay, unless its a White Sox / Cubs game, but then we have different announcers.)

I just checked the cable PVR tv listings...they have the Cubs game listed as airing on Comcast Sports Chicago.

FWIW, the Tribune lists the game on WGN tonight starting at 6:05pm
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/bas...
and the folks at www.cubs.com are agreeing with that tv listing.

But WGN's webpage isn't claiming it.
http://wgnsuperstation.trb.com/ and
http://wgnsuperstation.trb.com/sports/wg...

The Comcast page is claiming the Cubs game today.
http://chicago.comcastsportsnet.com/team...

The Tivo listings say tonight's game (Cubs vs. Braves 9/8/06) is on Comcast.
https://www3.tivo.com/tivo-tco/index.do

So that's 4 sources listing Comcast and two for WGN.

Hmmm. If I record both the PVR won't have room for the Pastor Greg show and Bananas Comedy that air later tonight. :)

HBO, WTTW to air documentaries about the Chicago Cubs

September 20, 2006 by diana, 2 years 41 weeks ago

From the Chicago Tribune...

Can HBO help put an end to Cubs' futility?

Published September 14, 2006

The Cubs can only hope HBO does for them what it did for the Boston Red Sox.

In 2004, the network aired a documentary on Boston's numerous heartbreaks. When the Red Sox went on to win the World Series a few months later, HBO compiled an updated version on the delirious aftermath.

Now it is the Cubs' turn. "Wait 'til Next Year: The Saga of the Chicago Cubs" will appear on HBO at 9 p.m. Sept. 26.
